DEPARTING GANGES
DEPARTING GANGES

After a few warm days and night, days of walking about town and feasting on local fare, we headed south yet again as we return to the US at a snails pace. But, as I have mentioned before, fuel up at every oppoortunity one gets. So before we started the three hour journey to our next destination, fuel first.

Once the boat was securely tied up at the fuel dock, Stever and I took the girls for a potty walk and a berry picking walk.. They had found the ripe berries on the roadside during our frequent walks and knew exatly where to pull us to.

After eating all the easily reached blackberries, we made a bee line back to the boat. The fuel tank was filled and the bill paid and the crew were waiting for me and Stever to bring the dogs back to the boat. As we reached the bottom of the ramp the fuel attendant told us we had to go talk to the guy in the office. So, we did. It turns our the guy in the office had lost his golden retreiver recently and he missed her badly. So we went to allow the guy to get some golden loving. As it turns out, he was caught by surprise. The guy, Dusty, had lost his beloved pet, Luna. The fuel attendant was excited to note our dogs name and wanted us to meet the guy, Dusty. It was a sweet gesture from the fuel dock attendant to Dusty.

Leaving the Ganges fuel pier, going past the float plane port and a gutsy in water replannking of a fishing vessel.

The trip to Brentwood Resort was challenging. It seems that all the boats in the Ganges Marina were heading out to other ports while others were making their way to the Ganges marina. With the wind on the nose, the water being driven by the wind crxeating peaks that were amplyfied by the boat traffic... it was a lumpy ride. The crew took turns on log watch or driving the boat. Dusty decided that I needed to go to the stateroom and lay on the bed with her as she does not like the bumping rocking and rolling whent the seas are unsettled.

We made Brentwood Resort in good shape. We were assigned a berth next to the ferry terminal. Once the boat was safely secured to the pier, the dogs and I went for a walk. When I returned the crew was in the process fo moving the boat to get better tie-up point.

When Ed came back from checking us in we, Ed Stever and I, made a quick dash to the Butchart Garden dock. We took the dinghy because UBER was taking too long to get our location to transport us. The driver called to let us know he had arrived to the Resort, despite the messages telling him we were taking an alternative method to get to the Gardens, we received the call as we were entering through cove gated.

Butchart was providing a free concert with the price of admission to the Gardens. Corey Hart was playing that night. The concert lawn was full. The music was good, but not anything I was familiar with. We moved to the upper lawn where the music was easier to hear and understand. I took advantage of the crowd being at the concert to take in the gardens as thought I was the only one there. It is a must see if you are in Victorea Canada and worth very loonie.

Corey Hart, his aircast wearing fiddler, (my hat is off to here) Images of the gardens, and a picture of Ed, Stever and me.

Ed and Stever took advantage of the facilities hot tub. Ed and Stever needed the hot tub after their long walks and drags by the dogs. Luna managed to eat something that gave her loose bowels. She altered me to when she needed to walk so, when the crew went to a diner adjacent to the ferry terminal, I stayed onboard with the dogs. Last thing we need is a mess on the boat. Besides, Stever and I had taken lunch there and the Calamares were superb. Luna is now on a white rice, pumpkin and checken breast diet. It seems to have done the trick.

Stever, Ed and I took dnner at the facilities pub while Vic and Kari had an anniversary dinner at the restaurant.

On the morning we were to leave, I spied a sailboat that appeared to be careened on the beach. Apparently the mooring had come undone and in the high winds the boat had drug its anchor. Whie I was out for my last walk with the dogs, the rescue folks had dragged the boat back to its proper anchorage.

The Seahorse Cafe, a beached boat, some of the lovely vessel anchored in the bay.

After a few days at the resort before heading to Sidney. In Sidney, Stever amd I took the dogs on a walk into town as soon as we got moored. there I picked up some pumpking, additional rice and chicken breast. This seems to have done the trick. She was able to sit through the Fleetwood Mac concert.

This is probably the best marina in this part of the Salish Sea. IT is well maintained, had staff waiting to help you moor. it is a bit of a hike to the lawns so when the dog lets me know that she is in need of a walk.

Luna sitting on my lap as we listen to the the Fleetwood Cover band. Great herron the at entry ramp. The girls would have him for lunch if they could.

Tomorrow the USA.

I love Cory Hart! Glad to see he's still around. And love Buchart Gardens too. Beautiful pics.
