Hello, from Ovens Outsation.
This morning we crossed into Canada, checked into immigration and customs at Van Isle Marina. The dock hands there are very capable. Ed did the check in for the crew. The Inspector was very enthusiastic about Golden Retrievers when she learned about our girls, Dusty and Luna.
We moved the boat from the customs dock to the fuel dock and took on a lot of fuel. Don't ask how much because it doesn't matter, it is what it is. The rest of the IPBA, ICR fleet that was checking to Canada arrived as we were fueling.
We motored to Ganges to check in for the Seattle Yacht Club Outstation Grand Tour. The signage is not clear but a worker on the docks helped us get to the SYC docks as the rest of the fleet was getting moored at the Ganges Marina.
Getting to Ovens Outstation is a circuitous route that takes us south and east before heading north again toward Ladysmith .
Ovens Outstation is an Island owned by Seattle Yacht Club near the entrance to Ladysmith Bay. It is rustic, no electricity, no water. It looks like a mass of vegetation covered rock. there is a long pier and a ramp to the island. There are a few picnic tables but I would not recommend any kind of grilling on the island as there is no true fire extinguishing available on the island.
Ed and the rest of the crew went to Ladysmith for some additional groceries and take out. After dinner of Chinese Take out, the dogs went for a walk and Dusty perfumed herself with a dead fish. Ewww. Stever cleaned her off.
Above are images of the scenery we passed thriough today.
