We left Dawsons Landing early in the morning making our way to Echo bay where we moored in the new marina with high finger piers, ample semi stable power and facilities on the floating bridge section or in the floating village. The store is lightly stocked. The facility is currently run by one person. It is hard to find folks willing to work for the low wages and to tolerate the remoteness of the facility. Across from Echo Bay Marina is the Echo Bay Resort. Both locations have some floating homes.

I say semi stable electrical power because in the short time we wre there after we arrived, we had two or three drops in power. These power drops on lasted seconds.

We were met on the dock shortly after we arrived by Ron Guttormsen, a former member of the Port Orchard Yacht Club. He invited us to his home for coffee the next day.

He and Kathy have built a beautiful home over looking the channels and a short 5 min walk from the marina. There home is for sale. Are you a fisherman, crabber or shrimper and like the isolation and enjoy the rugged beauty of Canada and Inner passage to Alaska, this place may be for you.

A portion of the I-90 floating bridge is anchored at the entrance o Echo Bay. There you'll find the new hall that will serve a restaurant and functions hall. There is a store, a fuel station and some mooring available for boats and planes.

Echo Bay Marina, Magic Carpet coming in to moor on the finger pier. The facility on the section of the I-90 bridge, store, gas, diesel, LPG, water. Floats for boats and float planes!

The placid waters of the Broughtons

The waters from Echo Bay to Lagoon cove were essentially flat, glass like except for the the wake of our boat. We passed the Health Bay Indian Reserve. From the water the Big House for the clan is magnificent. We spied a number of canoes with two to three paddlers each crossing Retreat Passage toward Bonwick Island.

We arrived to Lagoon Cove to be met on the dock by the owner and hired hand to help us moor our boat. As we were getting moored, Ed noticed Duane and Lynne form the Port Orchard Yacht Club. We had a lovely visit with them on our boat and they showed Vick and Kari their American Tug...are they getting the bug?

We will be joining the Pot Luck on the wharf tonight, the last day for prawns. We were invited to Sequel for viewing of bear pictures they had taken while on an excursion to see the bears. While they are wild, untamed animals, the are comfortable with tourist oogling them and will swimg close t the bow of the boat or saunter quite, frightenly close per some who recounted their imprssion.
