Getting ready, bring on stores, servicing props and pods
Hello friends and family, Bievenidos, Welcome to my blog.
This being my first ever blog, it is bound to be a steep learning curve, as is Cruising to Alaska as part of the International Power Boaters Association (IPBA), International Cruise Rally(ICR) and Predicted Log Contest.
Our Ride will take us to Wrangell, Alaska from Eagle Harbor in Bainbridge Island.
We will be in the company of 5 other boats, sort of and we, ED and I (George), will be accompanied by friends, of which only one has ever been to Alaska on a private yacht, and our two golden retrievers. Our crew hails from near and far . They will accompany us on part or all of the journey.
Our vessel is a Absolute Navetta 52. She is powered by Volvos IPS 600 with pods. This boat comes equipped with all the bells and whistles. She can cruise at speeds upto 22 miles per hour but we will be traveling at a more sedate speed unless high speed is called for.
As I said before, this is going to be a steep learning curve in many ways.
Some of the ways in which we will be learning, new boat, new crew with experienced and newbie boaters, participating in a predicted log contest as participants, traveling with two big dogs for many months, carrying the right stores and supplies for this journey and learning to write a blog...
Congratulations to you both 👏
What a fantastic opportunity.
Can't wait to read all about the adventures.
Woohoo! Can't wait to follow along!
